FAQ

Q: Why does the app need camera access?

BlinkAlarm uses the front camera and Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect eye landmarks and calculate your blink rate in real time. All processing happens entirely on your device. No face images, face landmarks, or video are ever recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. The app does not perform facial recognition or identification. For full details, see our Face Data policy.

Q: Does the app drain my battery?

BlinkAlarm is optimized for long sessions. It uses a low frame rate (15 fps) and automatically reduces detection frequency if the device gets warm. We recommend plugging in your charger for extended use.

Q: How should I position my phone?

Place your phone behind your keyboard or next to your monitor, with the front camera facing your face. A distance of 30–50 cm works best. Both portrait and landscape orientations are supported.

Q: What is a healthy blink rate?

The average natural blink rate is 15–20 times per minute. When staring at screens, this often drops to 5–10 times per minute, which can lead to dry eyes and discomfort.
